
WHAT WILL THE DOCTORS DO
ONCE WE START INFERTILITY TREATMENT?
Complete medical & reproductive
history will be recorded.
You must remember to give in detail the
past history including past contraceptive methods, induced and spontaneous abortion,
still-birth & live birth and previous conception with other partner in case of 2nd
marriage.
You should also give details of menstrual
history with reference to regularity, length, frequency, flow and pain if any. Menstrual Recorder
If you use any lubricants, remember to
mention them. You must give details of any pre-existing illness and treatment thereof.
Any systemic disease contraindicating
pregnancy/impairing fertility should be ruled out. Both the partners should be evaluated
system by system. In man physical examination should look for any genital tract
abnormality. Testicular size is noted, Vas is palpated and per rectal examination is done
to rule out any prostatic abnormality.
Physical examination of a woman includes
breast examination for Galactorrhoea and pelvic examination to rule out pelvic inflammation, pelvic mass, endometriosis and any genital tract abnormality.
A family physician should ascertain that
the woman is menstruating normally, has no pelvic pain,
dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia
and man has normal seminal parameter.
