PROLACTIN

Prolactin is produced and released by the pituitary gland. Its major function is to initiate and maintain lactation.

When done?

• Evaluation of a case of amenorrhea and galactorrhea.
• In a work up of a patient of hypothyroidism
• Associated with gynaecomastia
• Diagnosis of a case of impotency in men.
