ENERGY BALANCE
Energy balance is very important to
maintain your normal weight. If the amount of energy you consume, through daily diet, is
equal to the amount of energy spend in every day activities, then your weight will remain
constant. If you are overweight (which is not desirable for your health) the way to become
slimmer is to decrease your energy intake (by eating less) and at the same time, increase
you energy expenditure (by exercising more). You do not have to take up strenuous
exercise, find an activity that you enjoy like walking and make it a part of your daily
lifestyle, increasing your pace gradually to a brisk walk.
Unfortunately our sedentary lifestyle
means that most of us are doing less activity and tending to overindulgence in the wide
range of todays fast foods, majority of them being high energy sources.
Consequently, we are consuming more energy than we need.
