TAKE AWAY FOODS
Virtually all-takeaway foods contain
excessively high level of sodium and should be avoided (even so called health foods).
LOW SALT SANDWICH
FILLINGS
Egg: Hard boiled eggs or lightly
scrambled eggs may be flavored with pepper, curry powder or chilli powder. Add shredded
lettuce and/or grated carrot.
Salad: use a combination of the
following: lettuce, beetroot, asparagus, cucumber, tomato, onion, grated carrots, sliced
radish. Any of these may be combined with egg, chicken, cottage cheese or cold meat. Add
pepper.
Cheese: a moderate spread of cottage
or ricotta cheese may be combined with any of the following: sliced tomato, crushed
pineapple, onions, fresh mint, chopped celery, grated carrots, dried fruit, chopped nuts.
Chicken: Minced cooked chicken can be
combined with salt free salad dressing. Combine equal portions of salt free salad dressing
with cooked chicken and chopped pineapple, add curry powder to taste.
Banana: Mash banana with a little
lemon or orange juice and use as filling alone or with kishmish or sliced orange.
